Sharm El Sheikh excursions on your own, with a private car and driver
You do not have to buy a coach programme to see Sinai from Sharm El Sheikh. With a private car and driver you choose the destination, the pace and the stops, and you travel only with your own group. Below you can open the four day trips we describe in detail, see the car-with-driver options that are live today, and read what to agree before you go. Distances are rounded road estimates without traffic, checked on 15 October 2026.

How a private excursion differs from an agency tour
An agency excursion sells a fixed programme: a pick-up window, a coach or minibus shared with other guests, a guide and set stops. A private excursion by car with a driver is transport arranged around your plan. You decide when to leave the hotel, where to stop for photographs or lunch and when to head back. The driver is not a diving instructor or a licensed guide, so activities, guided visits and entry are arranged separately. Many travellers mix both: they book the car for the journey and buy tickets or activities directly at the destination. The price on this page is per vehicle with the driver, and the booking step shows exactly what it includes.
What to agree before you go
Put the plan into your request: the places you want, the order, roughly how long you want at each one and the time you need to be back at the hotel. Ask how waiting time and extra stops are handled, because a day with long stops is a different booking from a straight run. Give the number of passengers and bags and any equipment such as snorkelling gear. If you travel with a child, write the age, so that a car marked Child seat on request can be chosen. Entry tickets, national-park fees and activities are paid separately at the sites; we do not quote them because they change. Confirm in the request that the driver will wait while you are inside, and send a flight number if the day ends at the airport.
Distances and driving time for the four trips
As rounded road estimates without traffic: Dahab and the Blue Hole area are about 90 to 95 km from Sharm, roughly 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 each way. The Ras Mohammed park gate is about 20 to 30 km from Naama Bay or the airport, around 15 to 25 minutes, with more driving inside the park. Saint Catherine, the base for Mount Sinai, is about 205 km away, roughly 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes, and a sunrise climb means leaving at night. Cairo and the Pyramids are about 500 km one way, 6 to 7 hours including the Ahmed Hamdi tunnel and checkpoints. Real times are longer with traffic, speed bumps and checks.
Entry stamps, visas and passport checks
Many tourists arriving at Sharm El Sheikh Airport receive a free Sinai entry stamp, which the UK FCDO describes as valid for stays of under 15 days at the resorts of Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba. It does not cover Cairo or the rest of mainland Egypt, so a Cairo or Pyramids trip needs a full visa. Whether the stamp also covers Ras Mohammed National Park and Saint Catherine is disputed in the sources we checked on 15 October 2026, and we found no current official text. According to our local partner companies in Sharm (October 2026), Russian and Ukrainian citizens receive the Sinai stamp for about one month, 28 to 30 days. Check the current rules before you travel, and carry your passport: police check ID on the roads.
Which trip fits your day
With one free day, Dahab is the easiest: a short drive and plenty to do. Ras Mohammed suits half a day with a swim. Mount Sinai is an overnight plan, best followed by a rest day. Cairo is possible by road, but it makes sense only with a full visa and ideally an overnight stay. Each trip page above lists the stops to discuss.
