Private transfer from Sharm El Sheikh to Cairo

Cairo is about 490–510 km from Sharm El Sheikh by road, the longest transfer we list from Sharm and the only one that leaves the Sinai peninsula. Travellers book it when they want to combine the Red Sea with the capital: after a beach holiday, to catch an onward flight from Cairo, or to see the city next. The trip can start at Sharm El Sheikh airport if you land and want to go on straight away, or at your hotel anywhere in Sharm, from Nabq Bay to Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Hadaba or the Old Market. In a private car you travel with your own driver, keep all your luggage with you, and pay one price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat. You pick the exact car from real photos and send a free request; a local provider confirms it.

Along the Gulf of Suez and under the canal

Instead of following the Gulf of Aqaba like the roads to Dahab and Taba, the Cairo route runs up the Gulf of Suez coast of Sinai. Near Suez it crosses under the Suez Canal through the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and continues on the mainland to Cairo. The total distance is about 490–510 km, depending on your pickup point in Sharm and your address in Cairo.

Expect several police and military checkpoints on the way. The travel time the provider set for this route is shown at the top of the page; on a drive this long, agree on rest stops with your driver when you set off.

Booking a long-distance car with driver

Every offer shows the real car, its seats and its luggage capacity. Check the luggage space carefully if you are carrying suitcases for a longer trip around Egypt. The price shown is for the vehicle with its driver, so families and groups share one price however many seats they fill.

The request is free and nothing is paid online. A local provider confirms the booking, and the booking step shows whether you pay the driver or the provider. If you are starting at Sharm airport, give your flight number on the booking step so the provider can plan the pickup. Add your exact Cairo address or hotel so the driver knows where the journey ends.

Visa and passport: read this first

The free Sinai-only stamp that some visitors receive at Sharm airport does not cover Cairo or mainland Egypt. If that is how you entered, you need a full Egypt visa. Visa rules depend on nationality, so check the entry requirements for yours before you book.

Keep your passport and visa with you in the car, not in the boot: police at checkpoints check identity and may ask for both. If you plan to come back to Sharm later, the Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh transfer is priced for its own direction and can be booked the same way.
