Hurghada to Sharm El Sheikh: the ferry question and transport by road
Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh sit on opposite shores of the northern Red Sea, yet getting from one to the other is a full day affair. No road crosses the water, so a car heads north up the Gulf of Suez coast, goes under the Suez Canal through the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and then drives south through Sinai to Sharm: roughly 745–760 km, usually nine to ten hours. This is an informational page. No driver on our site prices Hurghada to Sharm yet, so there is no booking form; use the WhatsApp box to send your date, passengers and luggage, and we will tell you whether a driver can do it. The sections below cover the ferry, pick-up points in Hurghada, arrival in Sharm, documents and the alternatives.
Request this transfer on WhatsApp
Online booking is not open on this route yet, but you can still request the trip: send your date, number of passengers and luggage on WhatsApp, and we will look for a driver and tell you the price. Asking is free.

Hurghada to Sharm El Sheikh by ferry or boat in 2025–2026: what we found
Nearly everyone starts with the ferry, so here is exactly where we stand. We searched in October 2026 and found no current operator timetable and no recent report of a passenger boat between Hurghada and Sharm. A ferry-ticket aggregator states that no sailings currently run on the pair, and the stories that do exist are old ones, about a service that restarted and was later suspended.
That is why we describe the ferry as not confirmed operating in 2025–2026 (checked October 2026 — check before you travel). If a hotel desk or a friend tells you it runs, ask for the operator's name and a dated sailing before you rely on it. Whatever you decide, do not leave this trip to the last day of your stay.
Distance and drive from Hurghada: the Suez route into Sinai
The trip is the mirror image of the one in the other direction. From Hurghada the car follows the Gulf of Suez coast north, reaches the city of Suez, passes under the canal in the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel and arrives in Sinai, where the road continues south to Sharm El Sheikh.
Our distances were measured from Sharm airport using OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM, October 2026) and are the same road in reverse: about 745–760 km, or 8 h 50 min to 9 h 30 min with free-flowing traffic. Real journeys run longer because of checkpoints on the Sinai highways and the tunnel approach, so plan nine to ten hours and a couple of rest stops. A start before sunrise puts the Sinai section, the last part of the day, in daylight rather than darkness.

Pick-up in El Gouna, Sakkala, Dahar, Sahl Hasheesh or Soma Bay
We can quote a pick-up anywhere along the Hurghada coast; just name the place. The measured road distances to Sharm airport are about 739 km from El Gouna, 755 km from El Dahar (the old town), 758 km from Sakkala, the Marina and the city centre, 760 km from Hurghada airport, 778 km from Sahl Hasheesh, 786 km from Makadi Bay and 800 km from Soma Bay.
So a guest at the northern end saves a little time, and one in the far south adds an hour or so to an already long day. Give the hotel's full name and a phone number, and, if the hotel is inside a gated resort, say so. Leaving from Hurghada airport after a flight? Add your landing time and tell us how many bags you have.
Arriving in Sharm: airport, Naama Bay, Nabq, Hadaba and the Old Market
The drive ends in the Sharm area, and you tell us where. The airport is the usual first stop for people catching a flight home; Naama Bay, the main hotel and nightlife strip, is where many visitors stay; Nabq Bay is the northern hotel coast, Sharks Bay sits between the airport and Naama, Hadaba is a hill district with its own hotels, and the Old Market is the traditional centre.
Having come all the way from the Gulf of Suez side, the car arrives from the north, so the airport and Sharks Bay come first, then Naama Bay, and Hadaba and the Old Market last. Tell us your pick-up hotel in Hurghada and your destination in Sharm in one message, and add a flight number or departure time if you are catching a plane. If you only need the Sharm side later, the airport pages on our site cover the local runs.
Documents: what to keep in your hand luggage
Before you set off, check your own entry stamp or visa, because it decides what you are allowed to do on the Sinai side. The free Sinai-only stamp that tourists receive at Sharm airport covers Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba (UK government advice, FCDO, August 2026) and does not cover Hurghada, so anyone holding it who has been to Hurghada should have a visa as well. If you came in through Hurghada on a regular visa, you are not relying on the stamp at all; which nationalities receive the stamp is something sources disagree on (checked October 2026 — check before you travel).
Carry the passport itself. UK advice notes that Egyptian police check identity regularly and may detain people who cannot show it, and checkpoints are common on the Sinai highways.
Bus timetable, train, flight or private transfer from Hurghada
Go Bus and Super Jet both list Hurghada and Sharm among their destinations, but we found no direct pair on their sites and the land route passes Suez and Cairo, so a bus could involve a change. The East Delta timetable is not something we could verify either. Search the operator's own app for today's options; we do not quote times or fares.
For flights, whether you fly direct or change, for example in Cairo, depends on the airline's schedule; Sharm airport is served by the domestic carriers EgyptAir, Air Cairo and Nile Air; we have not checked current schedules.
A private driver suits families, groups with heavy bags and people with a fixed departure at the Sharm end. Each car on our site shows its seats, luggage space and child seat availability, and one price covers the whole vehicle.
Ferry timetable, price, car ferry and booking: what to do instead
Searches for a Hurghada to Sharm ferry timetable, a ferry booking page or a car ferry that would carry your own vehicle all run into the same wall: we could not confirm any sailing in 2025–2026, so there is no timetable, ferry price or booking link we can honestly give. Pages that still show one usually describe the old line that later stopped. Nor is there a train into Sharm: our October 2026 research found no passenger service even on the Cairo route.
So the practical plan is a transfer by road. Uber lists Hurghada among its Egyptian cities but does not work in Sharm El Sheikh, and a 745–760 km trip into Sinai is not a normal app ride. A driver arranged in advance can collect you at your hotel or at Hurghada airport after a flight, and stop where you need on the way. Write on WhatsApp with the date, pick-up place, passengers and luggage; if a driver can do it, the price will be for the whole car, and nothing is paid online.
Transfer terms: name sign, waiting, night price, cancellation
These are the standard terms of our transfer partners (November 2026). The company confirms the details for your trip when it accepts the request.
Name sign: on request, the driver meets you with a sign showing your name. Ask for it when you book.
Free waiting: up to 30 minutes.
Night price: the same as the day price, with no night surcharge.
Cancellation: free. Nothing is paid in advance, so just tell the company at least 24 hours before the pickup time.
