Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Grand Rotana Resort & Spa: Transfer

Three distances: ours and the hotel's two

Our area model puts the resort about 12 km and roughly 16 minutes from the airport, with a margin of about 2 km either way. The hotel's official site does not agree with itself: the overview page says "4Km from Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH)", while the FAQ on the same site says the resort is "8 km away from Sharm El Sheikh International airport" (checked 16 October 2026; check before you travel).

Both official numbers are shorter than ours, and the road around Sharks Bay loops, so a straight-line figure understates the drive. Plan by the longest number, 12 km and about 16 minutes, and add the time it takes to walk from the terminal to the car. The same FAQ says the resort is two minutes from the Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Centre, 23 km from Ras Muhammad National Park and 79 km from St. Catherine's Monastery.

The exact name and the hotels people confuse it with

The official name is Grand Rotana Resort & Spa, and the hotel gives its address as P. O. Box 96, Shark's Bay, Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai. It opened in August 2005 according to its own FAQ, and we found no earlier name for it. The Rotana site lists only this hotel in Sharm, so there is no sister Rotana to mix it up with here.

The confusion comes from the neighbours. Coral Beach Resort Tiran stands about 243 m away (straight-line, OSM coordinates) and Wikivoyage lists it as formerly Coral Beach Rotana Resort Tiran; it does not appear on the Rotana site, so it is a different hotel (checked 16 October 2026). Coral Beach Montazah is in Ras Nasrani, a different area, and also carried the Rotana name before. Royal Rojana Resort is a further Sharks Bay hotel that Wikivoyage showed as temporarily closed in December 2024. Write Grand Rotana Resort & Spa, Sharks Bay in your request exactly like that.

The hotel's own airport shuttle

The FAQ on the Rotana site lists among the amenities: "Free shuttle bus to/ from Airport (with prior reservation)". So this is the hotel's own service, it is described as free, and the terms come from the hotel: the page gives no timetable, no pick-up point and no cut-off for booking, so ask the hotel what it needs and when (checked 16 October 2026; check before you travel).

A private car booked with us is a different arrangement. It is a car for your party, the price per car is shown on the airport transfer page, and you put the flight number, passenger count and luggage in the request. Which of the two suits you depends on your arrival time and group size; if you want the hotel's bus, reserve it with the hotel itself.

Where the car stops at the resort

The hotel's own information does not describe a gate or a single reception point for arrivals, and we found no gate in OpenStreetMap that can be tied to this property. What the official page does say is that there is an accessible drop-off area near the entrance, a step-free lobby entrance, valet service and free parking. Ask reception which entrance to use and add it to your request.

The resort spreads along a 450 m private beach facing the Red Sea and Tiran Island, with 526 rooms and suites, nine Royal Villas with private pools and a Club Rotana Lounge. With a grounds of that size, say in the request whether you are in the main building, a villa or the club rooms; the hotel's own information does not say how far the villas are from the lobby.

Check-in, check-out and the return trip

Check-in at Grand Rotana is from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00 noon, and the official FAQ adds that early check-in and late check-out are available for an additional fee, without stating the amount (checked 16 October 2026). Arriving on a morning flight therefore does not mean the room is ready; ask the hotel in advance about early check-in.

For the way back, set the pick-up time in the request after your airline's advice on when to be at the airport, counting back from your departure and allowing for the drive on the Sharks Bay road. If you buy late check-out, say so in the request so the time matches your room, not the noon limit.

Around the resort

OpenStreetMap shows the nearest neighbours within a short walk by road: Coral Beach Tiran about 243 m, the hotel mapped as Golf & Resort (old name Maritim Jolie Ville Golf and Resort, now Pickalbatros Golf Beach) about 387 m, Sultan Gardens Resort about 606 m, a hotel labelled Melia Sharm Resort about 719 m and Xperience Sea Breeze about 768 m (straight-line, OSM coordinates). The resort describes itself as sitting between Naama Bay, Ras Um Sidd and Sharm town, and recommends Naama Bay's bazaars as an excursion.

The hotel also has accessible rooms, roll-in showers, an accessible pool and gym, and a diving centre on site, which matters if you arrive with wheelchairs or diving bags. State this in the request, because the car card shows "Child seat on request" for child seats and other needs are agreed through the request.

Transfer terms: name sign, waiting, night price, cancellation

These are the standard terms of our transfer partners (November 2026). The company confirms the details for your trip when it accepts the request.

Name sign: on request, the driver meets you with a sign showing your name. Ask for it when you book.

Free waiting: up to 30 minutes.

Night price: the same as the day price, with no night surcharge.

Cancellation: free. Nothing is paid in advance, so just tell the company at least 24 hours before the pickup time.
