How much does it cost to rent a car in Sharm El Sheikh
How much it costs to rent a car in Sharm El Sheikh depends on the car class, the season, the length of the rental and the pickup point. At the top of this page you see a "from" price per day for each car class, and below it the four cheapest cars today. The server computes the amounts from the real offers of local companies, so we do not write them into the text and they are current when you open the page. Below we explain what makes up the price, what is paid at pickup, which extra costs to add to your budget, and how renting compares with a transfer with a driver. If you only want the lowest offer, there is a separate page on cheap car hire.

How to read the "from" prices and the four cars
The "from" price next to a class is the lowest current daily rate among the cars of that class. It is not the price of a specific rental but a reference point showing where the class starts, for example a city car, a sedan or an SUV.
The four cars below are examples from the offer with their price per day today. The real amount for your stay appears only on the page of the car you choose, after you enter the pickup and return dates. Only then does the price take the period and length into account.
The price is computed on the server, not in the browser, so what you see in the table and on the car's page comes from one source.
What drives the price of a rental
The first factor is the class. A small city car costs less than a sedan, and an SUV or premium car costs more still; the difference comes from size, equipment and demand.
The second is the season. Peak season prices are higher than the rest of the year, so the same car can cost differently depending on the month. That is why you should always compare prices for specific dates, not just the figure in the table at the top.
The third is the dates and the length of rental. A longer rental may be calculated differently from a single day. Enter exact dates on the car's page and compare the total.
The fourth is the pickup point. Collecting at Sharm El Sheikh airport differs from collecting at a hotel, and companies may handle it differently. Details about the airport are on the Sharm El Sheikh airport page, and the pickup point you pick appears on the car's card.
Finally the model counts too: age, gearbox and equipment. Two cars in the same class can differ in price and description.
What is paid at pickup: deposit and payment
On top of the daily price you need to count on a deposit. It is set by the company that owns the car and shown on the car's page before you send a request. According to our local partner companies in Sharm (October 2026), the deposit is typically 300 to 500 US dollars or euros depending on the car, and for an expensive car it can be about 1,000.
Some companies accept your passport left with them for the rental period instead of a cash deposit. Then there is no deposit, but ask about it in your request, because not every company agrees. The deposit is returned when you bring the car back, but during the rental it ties up part of your budget.
How and when you pay for the rental is shown on the booking step, and the details are confirmed in the company's reply to your request. For self-drive you naturally need an ID document and a driving licence; our partners accept national driving licences from various countries.
Extra costs worth adding to the budget
The main extra is fuel. Prices in Egypt are official: under the Ministry of Petroleum decision in force since 10 March 2026, and still in force on 9 October 2026, a litre of 95-octane petrol costs 24.00 EGP, 92-octane costs 22.25 EGP, 80-octane costs 20.75 EGP and diesel costs 20.50 EGP. We checked this on 15 October 2026; prices can change, so verify them before you travel. Ten litres of 92-octane are 222.50 EGP at these rates, and the car's page shows which fuel the model takes.
The second extra is a child seat. The companies provide them: choose a car marked "Child seat on request" on the offer card and give the child's age in your request.
It is also worth asking about the fuel rule on return, any mileage limit and the insurance, because we do not describe each company's terms in this text. You see them on the specific car or agree them in the request before confirmation.
Rental or a transfer with a driver: cost comparison
Self-drive rental gives freedom but adds a deposit and fuel. If you only need the airport-to-hotel run and back, a private transfer, priced per vehicle with a driver, may work out cheaper. Current rates are on the airport transfer page and in the summary on the Sharm transport prices page.
If you want to sightsee with a driver but not drive, consider a car with driver by the hour: the price depends on the number of hours and includes the driver. With several excursions during your stay renting usually works out better, and with one or two trips it is better to price a transfer.
