Sharm El Sheikh to El Tor transfer by taxi or private car with driver
El Tor, also written El Tur, Al-Tur or Tur Sinai, is the capital of the South Sinai governorate and lies on the Gulf of Suez side of the peninsula, about 105–120 km from Sharm El Sheikh by road. It is the administrative centre of the province, and Wikipedia notes that it is also known for its springs. People ask for this transfer to reach offices or family, to visit the springs at Hammam Musa, or to continue further north. This page covers both directions. No driver on our site has priced the route yet, so instead of a booking form you will see a WhatsApp box: send the date, the time, the passengers and the address, and we will reply with what we can arrange.
Request this transfer on WhatsApp
Online booking is not open on this route yet, but you can still request the trip: send your date, number of passengers and luggage on WhatsApp, and we will look for a driver and tell you the price. Asking is free.

How far is El Tor from Sharm El Sheikh? Distance and drive time
Our OSRM measurement on OpenStreetMap data, made on 2 November 2026, gives about 116 km and 85 minutes from Sharm El Sheikh airport to El Tor town centre, and about 107 km and 79 minutes from Naama Bay. Hotels further north, in Nabq, add a few kilometres, while the southern districts are a little closer. A fair working range is 105–120 km.
Those minutes assume an empty road with no stops. The South Sinai highways have police and military checkpoints, and a car may wait at one or two of them, so allow up to about an hour and three quarters door to door. If someone expects you in El Tor at a fixed hour, tell us that time rather than a departure time, and the pick-up will be worked back from it.
The road to El Tor: across southern Sinai to the Gulf of Suez
From Sharm the road heads west and then north, leaves the Red Sea resorts behind and follows the Gulf of Suez side of Sinai. The same highway continues north past Abu Rudeis, about 162 km from Sharm airport, towards Ras Sudr and eventually the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel near Suez, so in effect it is also the first stretch of the drive to Cairo.
UK government advice (FCDO) recommends not driving outside main cities and resorts after dark and warns that road accidents are common. On a trip of under two hours that is easy to respect: leave in daylight, and if you are coming back the same day, plan the return before sunset. Keep your passport within reach, because any checkpoint may ask to see it.

Drop-offs: El Tor town centre and Hammam Musa
The default drop-off is El Tor town centre, about 116 km from Sharm airport on our measurement. Offices, homes and shops are spread across the town, so give the exact address, a landmark or a map pin; it saves phone calls at the end of the drive.
Hammam Musa, the springs whose name means Moses' Bath, lie a few kilometres from the centre; we measured about 119 km and 89 minutes from the airport. Lonely Planet describes them as hot springs about 5 km from town that tradition links to Moses. If you plan to bathe, bring a towel and a change of clothes, and say whether the driver should wait, so the waiting time is agreed in advance.
Who travels from Sharm to El Tor
As the governorate capital, El Tor draws many people from Sharm for official business, work or family visits, and such trips usually have a fixed appointment at the end. Others come for the springs: Wikipedia says the town is known for them and counts it among the tourist destinations of South Sinai, next to Sharm El Sheikh and Saint Catherine.
The place also has a long history. Wikipedia records that it was formerly called Raithu, that the Byzantine emperor Justinian commissioned a monastery there in the 6th century, and that it once served as a quarantine camp for pilgrims returning from the Hajj. None of that changes the drive, but it explains why old maps show the town under different names.
Further on: Ras Sudr and Saint Catherine
Some travellers use El Tor as a waypoint. Ras Sudr lies further north on the same coast, about 313–322 km from Sharm on our measurement and roughly three and a half hours of free-flow driving, so it is a separate and longer trip; mention it if you want to stop in El Tor on the way. Go Bus also lists Ras Sudr among its destinations.
Saint Catherine is inland. From El Tor to the monastery town we measured about 163 km and a little over two hours without stops. Rules for foreigners on the inland roads are not described the same way in every source, so check the current situation (checked November 2026 — check before you travel) and ask us what a driver can cover.
Documents: El Tor is not one of the four stamp resorts
Be precise about the paperwork. The FCDO says that travellers who arrive by air at Sharm El Sheikh and stay less than 15 days at resorts in Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba do not need a visa and get a free entry permission stamp. El Tor is in South Sinai, but it is not on that list, and the same advice says anyone planning to travel outside those resorts must get a visa, available at Sharm airport or online.
We cannot tell you how an officer will read a Sinai-only stamp on a trip to El Tor, and sources differ on details such as which nationalities receive the stamp (checked November 2026 — check before you travel). The safe choice is a full visa if you leave the four resorts. Egyptian citizens need no visa but should carry their ID card. Either way, carry the original document: police check ID regularly.
Bus or private car, and El Tor back to Sharm or the airport
Super Jet lists El Tor among its destinations, and its Sharm station is at Rowaysat. Wikivoyage says East Delta coaches leave daily from Sharm's bus station for points around the peninsula but advises checking schedules at the station; we do not quote times or fares, so confirm them with the operator before relying on a coach.
A private car takes you from the hotel door to the exact address and leaves when you are ready. The vehicle can be a sedan, a minivan or a minibus, and a price, once one exists, covers the whole car. The return from El Tor to Sharm El Sheikh or to Sharm airport is the same 105–120 km; for a flight, give the departure time so a safe margin is built in.
