Local transfers in Sharm El Sheikh: compare journeys between hotel areas

Sharm El Sheikh is one long strip of resorts, and a hotel that looks close on the map can be half an hour away by road. This page is for rides that never touch the airport: from Nabq Bay to Naama Bay, from your hotel to the Old Market or Soho Square, to dinner with friends staying in another bay, or when you change hotels halfway through the holiday. A private car with a driver picks you up at your door and takes you to the other door. You choose the car from its photo, see one price for the whole vehicle rather than per person, and send a free request that a local provider confirms. Below you will find how the areas follow one another, which hops are short and which are long, and how a booked car compares with street taxis and minibuses.

How Sharm is laid out, from Nabq in the north to the Old Market in the south

Think of Sharm as a single coastal road running roughly north to south. At the top is Nabq Bay, a strip of large resorts well away from everything else. Moving south you pass the airport, then the Montazah and Ras Nasrani peninsula, then Sharks Bay with the Soho Square and White Knight cluster of hotels close by. Next comes Naama Bay, the busiest stretch, with Gardens Bay just north of it. South of Naama lie Tower Bay and then Hadaba with Ras Um Sid, and at the far end the Old Market, also called Sharm El Maya, beside the old harbour.

The point of this order is that distance grows with every area you skip. Two neighbours are a short ride; the two ends of the resort are a real drive. Before you pick a hotel, or decide to visit someone in another one, find both areas on this line and you already know whether the trip is a quick hop or a proper outing. The table further down the page gives the figures for every pair.

Nabq Bay to Naama Bay and the other long hops

The question visitors type most often is how far Nabq Bay is from Naama Bay. By road it is about 18–20 km, roughly 20 minutes when the road is empty (OSRM route data, October 2026). Real trips usually take longer, because of traffic and checkpoints on the way, so for an evening reservation leave a margin.

The other long runs follow the same logic. Nabq Bay to the Old Market is about 27 km and some 25 minutes on a clear road. Nabq Bay to Hadaba is about 27–30 km, roughly half an hour. Nabq Bay to Sharks Bay is shorter, about 11–13 km and 15–20 minutes, and from Sharks Bay up to Montazah is only 6–7 km.

Because the price on this page is for the whole car, a long hop is a good use of it: a family of four or a group of friends shares one fare, with no negotiating at the kerb. Tell us the two hotels in the request so the provider knows exactly which gate to come to.

Naama Bay, Hadaba and the Old Market: the short hops

Naama Bay sits near the middle of the strip, which makes it the natural base for nights out. From Naama Bay to the Old Market it is about 8–9 km and 10 minutes without traffic; to Hadaba about 9–11 km and 10–15 minutes; to Sharks Bay about 11–14 km and 15–20 minutes. These are free-flow figures, and a rush hour or a checkpoint adds to them.

The shortest hop of all is between Hadaba and the Old Market: only 3–4 km, around five minutes. That is enough to dine in one and sleep in the other without planning the evening around the ride. If you stay in Hadaba or Ras Um Sid, you are far from the beach bars of Naama but close to the old harbour, and a booked car bridges that gap.

For a return trip, book the way back as a second request, or add it on the booking step when the same car has a price for that direction. Give the time you expect to leave the restaurant or bar, and the driver will plan around it.

Soho Square, restaurants and visiting friends in another hotel

Soho Square is one of the destinations people search for most. It sits in the hotel cluster near the Savoy, Sierra, Concorde and DoubleTree, on the airport side of the main resort area, so from Nabq Bay it is a shorter drive than to Naama Bay, while from Hadaba or the Old Market it is a longer one. Write the name of your hotel and of the place you want to reach, and we confirm whether a driver can take it.

Hotel-to-hotel visits are the other common reason. Each resort sets its own rules for visitors, so ask your friends what their hotel needs before you set off, and give the driver the exact hotel name as it appears on the booking.

If you are moving from one hotel to another, mention how many suitcases you have. Each car card shows seats and luggage space, and a child seat is marked when it can be provided on request, so you can choose a vehicle that fits the whole family and the bags in one go.

Street taxi, ride app or local minibus: what is known

Street taxis in Sharm are not metered and there is no official fare board; the price is whatever you agree before you get in. Older traveller guides advise that you note the driver's ID, pay only when you arrive and be clear that you are paying in Egyptian pounds. The UK foreign office suggests sharing the driver's details and live location with a friend if you ride alone, especially at night.

Apps are patchy. inDrive has its own Sharm El Sheikh page where you propose a fare and drivers answer, paying cash, but no source confirms how many drivers are around. Uber is disputed: it has no Sharm city page of its own, while some guides still list it. Careem is unconfirmed, and Bolt does not operate in Sharm (checked October 2026, check before you travel).

Blue-and-white minibuses run a fixed north-south route through the resort with a diversion to Hadaba. You hail them from the roadside and pay the driver; Naama Bay is known to drivers as Marina. No official routes or fares are published, and first-time visitors often find them hard to use, especially with luggage.

A car booked on this page is the predictable option: a real vehicle, one price for the car, a driver who knows where you are going.
