Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Former Iberotel Hotels: Where They Are Now
Several Sharm hotels were once Iberotels, and maps, vouchers and drivers still use the old name. This page lists each old name, the hotel behind it now, its area and our estimate from the airport, from about 14 km and roughly 17 minutes (Redsina, Nabq Bay) to about 24 km and roughly 29 minutes (Fanara, Hadaba) without traffic. The price per car is shown on the airport transfer page once you pick the exact hotel.
Why the old name still appears
OpenStreetMap, which many navigation apps draw on, still labels several of these buildings with the Iberotel name: Iberotel Club Fanara, Iberotel Grand & Palace, Iberotel Il Mercato and Iberotel Palace are all mapped under it today, with no old-name tag to explain the change. A guest who types "Iberotel Palace" into a map may therefore land on the right building even though the sign says something else, and a voucher printed years ago may carry the old name too.
The Iberotel name has not vanished from the market: the Jaz Hotel Group's website lists an Iberotel Luxor in its portfolio. That is a reason to read the name on your voucher carefully, because a hotel in Sharm called "Iberotel" may be a current brand or a former one. The mapping below is built from Wikivoyage, the hotels' own pages and our area table; where a link could not be confirmed we say so, with the date, 16 October 2026.
Hadaba: Fanara, the Grand Hotel, Royal Grand and Il Mercato
Fanara. The German Wikivoyage page for Hadaba says JAZ Fanara Resort was formerly Iberotel Club Fanara and JAZ Fanara Residence was formerly Iberotel Fanara Residence. The Jaz page for the Residence shows five stars and a "21 km" badge, without saying what it is measured to. Our area table puts Fanara at about 24 km and roughly 29 minutes, on the cliff at the southern end of Hadaba.
The Grand Hotel Sharm, per the same page, was formerly Iberotel Grand Sharm Hotel: about 21 km and roughly 25 minutes in our table. Royal Grand is the old Iberotel Grand & Palace; the page lists it as Royal Grand Sharm, and it now operates as Pickalbatros Royal Grand Resort, about 22 km and roughly 26 minutes. Its official page gives the address "Hadaba, Box 116 Om El Seed" and says that children are not accepted; it does not mention Iberotel at all. Il Mercato Hotel & Spa appears on Wikivoyage with "Iberotel Il Mercato" in brackets, not as a former name; its present operator is not confirmed here (checked 16 October 2026, check before you travel). Our table: about 21 km and roughly 25 minutes.
Pickalbatros Royal Grand: the one official airport statement
The Royal Grand FAQ on the Pickalbatros site answers the airport question directly: transport from the airport to the hotel is available, "but with extra fees", and the hotel's reception or hotline can arrange it. No amount is given on that page. The hotel's address is in the Om El Seed plateau, and the adults-only policy matters for a group with children: such a booking would not be accepted by this hotel, so check the voucher before you ask for a car.
A private transfer with us is a separate booking: the price per car is shown on the airport transfer page, and you write the name from the voucher in the request.
Old Market: Iberotel Palace and JAZ Elite Palace
German Wikivoyage lists the Iberotel Palace in Sharm El Maya Bay as a five-star adults hotel: 260 twin rooms in several three-storey buildings, not for children under 18, check-in 14:00, check-out 12:00. Our own table lists the same hotel as JAZ Elite Palace (Adults Friendly 16+), former name Iberotel Palace, about 23 km and roughly 27 minutes. Two things are unconfirmed (checked 16 October 2026, check before you travel): we did not find the Elite Palace name on the Jaz Hotel Group site, and the age limit differs between sources, 18 on Wikivoyage and 16 in our table. Ask for the age rule and the exact name on the voucher.
OpenStreetMap maps the building as Iberotel Palace, at a different point from the Hadaba cluster, so the Palace is not the Royal Grand: the old Iberotel Grand & Palace belonged to Hadaba.
Nabq Bay: Redsina, and why we mark it unconfirmed
German Wikivoyage headlines the hotel in Nabq Bay as Iberotel Redsina, address El Salam Road, with 521 rooms, a dive base, check-in 15:00 and check-out 12:00, and gives "Tui Magic Life Sharm El Sheikh" and "Magic Life Sharm el Sheikh Imperial" in brackets, without calling them former names. Our earlier area notes had it the other way round, as TUI Magic Life Redsina formerly Iberotel Redsina. A trade report we could not check against an official page says Jaz reopened it as Iberotel Redsina in 2024 after Magic World Sharm. The direction of the change is therefore unconfirmed (checked 16 October 2026, check before you travel).
For the airport run it matters little: our table puts Nabq Bay at about 14 km and roughly 17 minutes. Write both names if you are unsure.
What to write in the request
Copy the hotel's current name from the voucher and add the old Iberotel name in brackets, for example "Pickalbatros Royal Grand Resort (ex Iberotel Grand & Palace)". Add the area, Hadaba, Old Market or Nabq Bay, because a driver who searches the old name on a map may be sent to a neighbour. The official pages of these hotels do not describe their entrances in the information we read, so ask reception where the car should stop. The car card shows "Child seat on request"; for the return use the voucher check-out time and leave as your airline advises.
Transfer terms: name sign, waiting, night price, cancellation
These are the standard terms of our transfer partners (November 2026). The company confirms the details for your trip when it accepts the request.
Name sign: on request, the driver meets you with a sign showing your name. Ask for it when you book.
Free waiting: up to 30 minutes.
Night price: the same as the day price, with no night surcharge.
Cancellation: free. Nothing is paid in advance, so just tell the company at least 24 hours before the pickup time.
